Hard to believe that today was our 85th Episode of Sparkles' Safety Spot! Wow, how time flies!

Today we shared how important it is to have the grown-ups in your house vacuum around the smoke alarms in your home! Smoke alarms can collect dust and dirt, and you want them to be clean so that they can do their job!

Sparkles' Safety Spot: Episode 84

During our 84th Episode of Sparkles' Safety Spot, we shared how important it is to make sure that nothing blocks the door!

I had fun making the video for this episode! I pretended to move my toys away from the door (it was just pretend, I always put my toys up so everyone can stay safe!)! It was big fun!

It's important to make sure that doorways aren't blocked in case of an emergency! You want to be sure to be able to get out quickly!

Hope you like it!

Skype with the Fire Safety Dogs Program Numbers Released

We made a thank you for Heather!
She lives in London and is with
Skype in the Classroom.
Last week we had the opportunity to
Skype with Heather from London, who is with Skype in the Classroom. Skype in the Classroom is going to use the Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation's Skype program as a case study and we are very excited! They are also committed to helping share our program and raise awareness so that, in turn, more teachers will sign up to take part. Whoo hoo!

We got out our calculators and figured out how many children, schools, states and countries we have reached! Here they are!

Skype Program with the Fire Safety Dogs:

  • Skyped with 15 states plus Washington, DC
  • Skyped with 5 countries (US, Germany, Japan, Canada and Australia)
  • Skyped 31 times with 26 schools (some schools we Skyped with more than once)
  • We have done programs for classes from the following age groups: 3-14 years old.
  • Skyped with special needs classes three times
  • 1,151 children and 94 adults reached
Next week we will be Skyping with attendees who will be at a fire and life safety educator's conference in Colorado. We will be sharing our Skype program as well as giving tips on how they can start their own Skype program in their community. Whoo hoo! We can't wait!

We would LOVE to Skype with your class! Click HERE to learn how you can Skype with us for FREE!

Molly the Fire Safety Dog Goes to the Fire Station

Every Monday night I go to the fire station for Monday night training with the firefighters. I had such a good time tonight!

First, I watched as the firefighters loaded equipment onto 101. 101 is a brush truck and is part of a new truck and part of an older fire truck.

Watching the firefighters add equipment to 101.
101 will be one of the first vehicles that goes out on a call.

I had to check out the side of 101. See the picture of the Dalmatian? That is a picture of Sparkles and was put on the older part of the fire truck many, many years ago!

Then, I helped Firefighter Dayna change the sign outside the fire station. People honked at me as they drove by. I smiled!

Time to change the sign!

I helped hold the letters for Firefighter Dayna. It was fun!

Ta da! New letters on the sign outside the station! Where we live, people have to call the Sheriff's office or Police Department before they burn anything outdoors. Fire can get away from someone so easily if they are burning outside. That is why we hope no one ever burns outside.

In the training room, I pretended that I was on the radio. "Stay safe, everyone!" Molly out!

My work was done! It was time to go home after a busy night at the fire station!

Before I left, I posed for a picture on one of my favorite fire trucks. This is 109. It is a pumper truck.

Until next time, stay safe! And, remember: Fire Safety Rocks!
