Our Program is Growing!

Our program is growing!

Our new outdoor fire safety presentation set-up. It took us a very long time to get to this point, but thanks our wonderful donors and corporate partners, we are on our way! : )

With so many requests for fire safety presentations, we are in immediate need for gas money to get to schools and events to share fire safety and to cover the cost of postage to send fire safety books to schools we have Skyped with.

Donate today to the Keep Kids Fire Safe™ Foundation and help us save the life of a child (Your donation is tax deductible).

No amount is too small! Visit HERE to make your donation today!

Guess Who Watched Our Show?

We were so excited when we found out that some firefighters from the Little Rock Fire Department were watching our show, Sparkles' Safety Spot last Friday! How cool is that?!?!

We love it when classrooms and fire departments tune in to watch!

You can watch our live-streamed safety show every Friday morning at 9 a.m. CST HERE!

New Barriers to Help Keep Everyone Safe!

This year when we do the "Safe Treat" on Halloween, we have a new system to help ensure all the boys and girls at the event will get to see me and stay safe at the same time! : )

Last year, hundreds of people waited in line to see Tango.

This year it's my turn, and I'm so excited!!!

Skyping with Ms. Williams' Class from the UK!

Last week, on September 17th, we Skyped with Cornist Elementary School in the UK. We had such an amazing time!

Recently, we finished editing the video from our big day. Here it is!

If that wasn't exciting enough, we received two picture from two very special students: Joe and Harry.

The work that Joe and Harry did was to follow up on our Skype lesson. They used iPads to access the comic life app ; designed a poster that would help other children in the school with fire safety.

                                                                   Harry's poster

                                                                       Joe's poster

How cool is that?!?!

Then, they created a QR code for the poster so that it could be scanned and would lead the children straight to the Fire Safety Dogs' website for more info.

(US residents: You will notice on the posters that they mention to call "999." 999 is the emergency number in the UK. Remember to call "911" here in the states. Be sure, boys and girls from the US, that you make sure that you want to go to your meeting place first before you call 911. It's important that you get out of your house and stay out!)

We loved Ms. Williams idea SO MUCH, that we are going to ask older students from all our Skype visits to do the same!

Thank you so much, Ms. Williams and to your class, for the great Skype visit and to Joe and Harry for the wonderful fire safety posters! You guys ROCK!

Until next time, stay safe! And, remember, FIRE SAFETY ROCKS!

One of the Most Amazing Days EVER!

It's a wonderful day for fire safety!

Do you ever have one of those days when you wake up and have to pinch yourself because you find out of something amazing that happened?

This is one of those days!

The Fire Safety Dogs are grateful to Allen and Linda Anderson for helping carry on Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's legacy through their book, Animals and the Kids Who Love Them, now available in hard book in Japanese!

Aren't the illustrations amazing? They were Drawn by Akira Himekawa.

"Animals and the Kids Who Love Them: Extraordinary True Stories of Hope, Healing, and Compassion" Japanese version were published from Gakken Education Publishing / Gakken Marketing on July 16.

I love this illustration by Akira Himekawa / 姫川 明月. You can just see the love in Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's eyes.

Firefighter Dayna shared with me that this is exactly how Sparkles looked at her, with so much love in her eyes.

Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog was known for her "Crawling Low" trick. This trick went on to help save the lives of children in actual fire related situations who had watched Sparkles in a fire safety presentation.

The books features several inspirational stories, including Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog's story of how she helped save the lives of 7 children and 2 adults involved in actual fire related situations.

Here is what the American version looks
like!

Have a wonderful day and remember, dreams really do come true!

Stay safe and remember: Fire Safety Rocks, no matter what language it is in!

We're on the Front Page of Firehouse.com!

Check out the front page of firehouse.com today. This is the first time one of Momma's pictures and blog made the front page!

The Fire Museum of Memphis has the most AWESOME fire safety component! They see thousand's of children every year!

A Surprise for one of my BFF's!

Waiting for one of my BFF's to get off the school bus.

Patience was excited to see me when she got off the school bus!

I gave Patience a note asking her to ride in the Fire Safety Awareness Parade with Firefighter Dayna and me (Firefighter Dayna was asked to be the Parade Marshal of the parade earlier this week).

Patience read my note out loud.

So, are young going to ride in the parade with me, Patience?

The waiting is killing me! BOL

She said yes!! We shook on it!

I gave patience a stuffed Dal as a thank you! Patience is going to carry it in the parade!

Skyping with Students from Ohio!

We had so much fun Skyping with children from Ohio this morning!

During our Skype visit, I showed the boys and girls where I am from!

Look how far away we are from the boys and girls that we Skyped with this morning! If we were to get in the SpotMobile, it would take us 13 hours to get there and we would travel 811 miles (one way).

That's a long way, isn't it?

Sparkles' Safety Spot: Today!

Join us for Sparkles Safety Spot LIVE at 9 AM CST! Today we will learn about how important it is to GET OUT AND STAY OUT!

Watch it HERE!

Our New Flooring is In!

Our new foam floor tiles are in!

We are so grateful to an anonymous donor that found and purchased an item on our wish list to help enhance our fire safety programming!

The mat will be perfect for children to sit on during our presentations, especially the outdoor ones!

The mat will also help when we do our fire safety demonstrations! No more slipping and sliding on floors!!!

We are going to use our new mat during Fire Safety Day at the Clinton Library and during our event at Sears Headquarters in Chicago next month!

So many possibilities!! We will be using it for years!

Thank you to the very special donor who is helping us keep children and their families safe!

If you would like to help our cause, please let us know! We have a few items that we are in desperate need of to help enhance our fire
safety programming at events we will be attending in the future.

The foundation we support, Keep Kids Fire Safe, is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) public charity. We need your help! No amount is too small.

Stay safe everyone! Hope you are having a great day so far!!!
